RAPSA Forum 2021 Conference Themes

RAPSA's 10th annual summit provides attendees with answers and inspiration to tell the true story of their school, staff, and students. This year's conference themes include topics that at-promise students and educators are currently facing. Unfortunately, many existing programs do not have measures in place to deal with these unique set of circumstances.

This year’s confernce themes include

  • Alternative Accountability in Practice
  • CTE, Making CTE Work for At-Promise Students: Lessong From the Field
  • Post-Covid: Helping At-Promise Students Bounce Back from the Pandemic

CTE: Making CTE Work for At- Promise Students: Lessons from the field

The typical CTE Program is, by design, best-suited for comprehensive high schools where students have 4 years to take CTE courses, explore a career and complete a CTE pathway.  However, at-promise students stand to benefit greatly from a CTE program when such programs are tailored to their needs and intentionally designed to serve re-engaged youth.  RAPSA is seeking presenters to share promising practices from the field that will highlight ways in which CTE programs can be developed to improve outcomes for at-promise students.

Post COVID: Helping At-Promise Students Bounce Back From the Pandemic

Like so many other students across the country who have been adversely impacted by the pandemic, at-promise students are in critical need of schools and programs that can help them bounce back from a very difficult year by earning their high school diploma and preparing for their futures.  This will be no small task for at-promise students or the school communities that serve them. RAPSA is seeking presenters to share policies and practices that can help at-promise students in the following ways: 1) recover from the learning loss; 2) access wraparound supports in their communities; 3) access supports and services to meet their social and emotional needs such as counseling services.

At-promise students stand to benefit greatly from a CTE program when such programs are tailored to their needs and intentionally designed to serve re-engaged youth. The following session by Justin Trager, and Deborah Good is part of the CTE For At-Promise Students theme which addresses postsecondary frameworks for at-promise students.

The framework provides a roadmap to design industry relevant projects and other student experiences, award certifications and micro-credentials, and ensure successful transition of ACE graduates.

This interactive session will examine the purpose of relevant CTE learning, strategies for engaging community to inform practice, and explore how to integrate CTE with core academics.
