Conference Themes – CTE, Lessons From the Field

Making CTE Work for At-Promise Students

Lessons From the Field

The typical CTE Program is, by design, best-suited for comprehensive high schools where students have 4 years to take CTE courses, explore a career and complete a CTE pathway.

However, at-promise students stand to benefit greatly from a CTE program when such programs are tailored to their needs and intentionally designed to serve re-engaged youth. RAPSA is seeking presenters to share promising practices from the field that will highlight ways in which CTE programs can be developed to improve outcomes for at-promise students.

Education agencies and individual schools planning for students and staff to return following COVID-19 closures must prioritize efforts to address social and emotional learning and mental and behavioral health needs. Equally important is ensuring At-Promise youth are provided with pathways to postsecondary education and careers.

In addition to pathways, districts should ensure all policies or recommendations are culturally sensitive and ensure equity and access for all youth. Consequently, this years themes for the RAPSA conference address these topics schools, and educators are facing.

Our conference themes this year are

  • CTE: Making CTE Work for At-Promise Students: Lessons from the field
  • Post COVID: Helping At-Promise Students Bounce Back From the Pandemic
  • Alternative Accountability in Practice
